Fanfics I'll never write
Just some notes on fanfic ideas I've toyed with for many years, but have come to the conclusion that I'll never get around to actually writing.
Simpson 2020
The story of how Oregon Congresswoman Lisa Simpson defied the odds to become America's youngest-ever president and kick Donald Trump out of the White House.
Known scenes I have in my head:
- Lisa and Bart in the treehouse after Lisa clinches the nomination, worried that there's no chance in hell that she wins.
- Lisa speaking to Smithers (now CEO of the power company), as "one of the highest-profile gay executives in the United States." Smithers is willing to be a donor to her campaign.
- Flanders offering support—both his sons have since come out of the closet, and he's supporting them.
Star Trek: Essex
In 2394, disgraced Starfleet Captain Tom Paris leads a crew of misfits on the outdated Ambassador-class USS Essex (NCC-10850)—and becomes the target of a massive conspiracy.
I actually have details about all the characters (the crew is almost entirely OC), which may be put here one day.
Untitled Pokémon Fic
Ash Ketchum, age 25, returns to Kanto. Meanwhile, Giovanni has poised himself to achieve world domination, and his increasing brutality proves to be a bridge too far for the trio.
The general idea probably has its roots all the way back in 1998, when Pokémon first came to the US. I haven't been a hardcore fan since 2001 or so, and haven't played the newer games or watched the newer shows, so most of my impressions of what Pokémon is now comes from fanfics I've read.
I actually wrote a fairly lengthy Pokémon fic back in 2014 (~15,000 words), featuring Ash and company as well as my player character from Pokémon Blue. I've never posted it, as once I established what had become of everyone when they grew up I instantly lost interest. This fic would be sort of a prequel to that one—a lot of my headcanons have changed in the decade since, so a lot would be different.
